Drink Spiking

Drink Spiking is when mind altering substances such as alcohol or drugs are added to a person's drink without their knowledge. This can be done by a stranger or even someone known to the person.

Drink Spiking doesn't only happen in a busy bar, it can happen anywhere and to anyone. Any drink - alcoholic or non-alcoholic can be spiked.

No drink should be left unattended!

Drink Spiking is a crime! The penalties differ depending on whether the drink has been spiked for amusement; maliciousness; to carry out a sexual or physical assault or to steal from the victim. 

If it is suspected that a drink has been spiked, it should be kept for evidence, and the staff and police informed. It is important that medical assistance is sought in order that blood and urine samples can be taken for evidence.
