Ecstasy

Ecstasy is the most common club drug as it gives a feeling of euphoria.

It is usually found in tablet or capsule form, but can also be a powder. Tablets come in different shapes, sizes and colours often embossed with motifs or pictures.

Ecstasy prevents the production of urine, so drinking too much water too quickly is extremely dangerous and could lead to death.

The effects of ecstasy occur around 1 hour after taking it and begin to wear off after 4-5 hours.

Risks include: dehydration; hallucinations; paranoia; increased heart rate and raised body temperature.

Long-term use can cause: kidney, heart and liver damage.

Ecstasy is a Class A drug. Possession can carry a maximum prison sentence of 7 years. Supplying can carry a life sentence. Both punishments can also carry an unlimited fine.
