It is usually licked or sucked off small squares of blotting paper (tabs) which have colourful images on them. LSD also comes in capsules and liquid form.
Taking a tab is called a 'trip' - the user will not know how long the trip will last - it could be up to 12 hours.
Effects of LSD include: distorted senses; panic and confusion; hallucinations.
A 'bad trip' can cause: paranoia; panic attacks; depression.
Risks can include: increased heart rate; convulsions; insomnia; mental illness if used regularly.
LSD is a Class A drug. Possession can carry a maximum prison sentence of 7 years. Supplying can carry a life sentence. Both punishments can also carry an unlimited fine.
