It is usually a white or yellowish powder, but can appear in pill, capsule or crytalised form which can be dissolved in water.
Mephedrone is generally snorted but can also be swallowed in wraps of paper known as 'bombs'.
It can also be known as: Meow Meow, MCAT and Plant Food.
Users report that it is very hard to stop taking this drug and compulsive use leads to unpleasant side effects such as paranoia and feeling anxious. Regular or heavy use may develop into psychological dependency; it is known that mephedrone can over stimulate the heart and circulatory system which can cause fits.
Mephedrone is a Class B drug. Possession can carry a prison sentence of 5 years. Supplying can carry a prison sentence of 14 years. Both punishments can also carry an unlimited fine.
