Governance
- The White Ribbon Association is the working name for the Women's Total Abstinence Educational Union Ltd (WTAEU Ltd).
- The White Ribbon Association Inc. (WRA Inc) is a registered company - company number 00039177.
- The WTAEU is a registered Charity, number 209413. It is also limited by guarantee - company number 498913.
- Both Organisations are governed by Trustees.
- At our annual meeting we appoint a President who holds the position for three years.
- The WRA relies on volunteers, the National Executive Committee and Trustees are all non-paid.
- We currently employ three administrative staff: Mrs Mary Ayres; Mrs Gail Williams; and Mrs Wafa Kachachi.
- We are a membership organisation:
- To become a Member, a signed Declaration of Promise to abstain from alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, must be received, together with the annual subscription of £5 a year. Each Member receives a White Ribbon enamelled badge and our quarterly issues of the White Ribbon Family Magazine. Only Members of the White Ribbon Association are entitled to wear the White Ribbon badge.
- Men are allowed to become Associate Members on signing the Declaration of Promise, and are also allowed to wear the white enamelled badge. Men, however, do not have voting rights.
- Anyone who does not wish to sign the Declaration of Promise can still support the work of the organisation by paying the subscription of £5 a year, but will only receive the quarterly issues of the White Ribbon Family Magazine.
