Did you know?
There are two types of drugs - medicines and non-medicines:
- Medicines (also called medical drugs) are drugs which should only be given when you are ill. This type of drug must never be accepted from friends, neighbours, and strangers.
- Non-medicines are drugs such as alcohol, tobacco, solvents and cannabis which are very addictive and can damage the heart, lungs, and brain.
Peer pressure is often the cause of children trying non-medicine drugs, but also strangers offering these types of drugs.
It is important to:
- Be aware of the dangers of taking non-medicine drugs;
- Say No to drugs;
- Tell a parent or teacher if offered drugs such as cannabis;
- Keep bodies healthy and happy;
- Eat healthy food and get lots of exercise.
